Explanations and solutions to the full Crime Scene: Palermo 1985 game
Puzzle A B C D E F G H I Endgame
Puzzle A
You have read Part 1 of the story, and revealed the Evidence card marked “Start”. You have found a small hand held ‘mirror’ in cell 6. Now, take Evidence Card 6.
There’s a black-and-white string coming from a comb on Evidence Card 6, so look for a ‘comb’ in the crime scene images (the game board and the inside of the box lid). You’ll find it in cell 13. Take the Evidence Card 13. Now you can solve puzzle A. Card 6 shows a blood splatter on the mirror. Card 13 shows 4 mirror images of that same splatter, but only one of them is a true mirror image. The identification number of the correct image is 231.
That is the solution: 231.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find ‘cat’ in cell 5, and take Evidence Card 5.
Puzzle B
You followed the cypher and found ‘cat’ in cell 5. Now take Evidence Card 5.
Evidence Card 5 guides you to search for a ‘notepad’ in the Crime Scene images. It is in cell 7, so take Evidence Card 7. As you turn it, you can see that it has a black-and-white string on it. This means that you need an extra card to solve Puzzle B too. The string starts from a pencil. You find the pencil in cell 1. Take the matching Evidence Card.
Card 1 shows you the page is actually a coordinate system, with the razor at the 0-0 point. It also tells us we need three numbers, and that they are lined up above each other somewhere, and can be formed by calculating X + Y. When we look at card 5 again, we realize the dots on the letters I are located at exact crossing points of the coordinate system. If we calculate the X + Y values for all three of the, starting with the top one, we’ll get the answer. The top one is at X (horizontal) 2, and Y (vertical) 6. Add them together and you get 8. The next one is at X3 and Y4, so 7. And the last one is at X2, Y2, which makes 4.
Solution: 874.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘tie’ in cell 19, and take Evidence Card 19.
Puzzle C
You followed the cypher and found a ‘tie’ in cell 19. Now take Evidence Card 19.
Evidence Card 19 guides you to search for ‘shoes’ in the Crime Scene images. You’ll find a single shoe in cell 15, so take Evidence Card 15 and enter Puzzle C.
You’ll see there is a black-and-white string coming from the shoe print on the card. You’ll find another shoe print like that in cell 12 of the Barbershop image. Take card 12. Now you have two shoe prints, but you need to place them inside the frames you find inside the Folder that came with the game. The C puzzle symbol on the Folder helps you find it. Now you need to realize the front part of each shoe print contains a maze. If you enter it from the side nearer to the heel you will exit it from a specific exit on the side of the shoe. Each exit has a numerical value, which can be read by “drawing a horizontal line” from the exit to the numbers between the cards. When you reed the numbers you get from left to right, you end up with 2-3:
String the numbers together and you’ll get the solution: 23.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘hat’ in cell 22, and take Evidence Card 22.
Puzzle D
You followed the cypher and found a ‘hat’ in cell 22. Now take Evidence Card 22.
Evidence Card 22 guides you to search for a ‘cross’ in the Crime Scene images. You’ll find it hanging from the centre of the chandelier in cell 18. Take Evidence Card 18, and see the black-and-white string from a piece of a black veil.
You’ll find the rest of the black veil hanging from the table in cell 21. Take card 21. Now you can solve Puzzle D. You’ll notice that each arm of the cross holds a ruby with a unique number of sides. These rubies give each arm a value equal to the number of sides they have. Card 21 tells you in which order to read the values of the arms of the cross. Notice that one side of the tilted square in the middle of the cross is missing a small “spike”. Use this smooth side of the square on the patterns on the black veil to find the order of the arms. One at a time, rotate each symbol so that the location of the smooth side matches the location of the side on the cross. It should be on the lower right. Once that is done, see which direction is accentuated by a small, fully visible square. Either up, down, right or left. Then mark down the value of the ruby on that arm. You will end up with 8675.
Solution: 8675.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘car’ in cell 14, and take Evidence Card 14.
Puzzle E
You followed the cypher and found a ‘car’ in cell 14. Now take Evidence Card 14.
Evidence Card 14 is a text card with the word ‘revolver’ underlined. Find the ‘revolver’ in cell 26, take card 26, and start solving Puzzle E.
Puzzle E shows the symbol of Observation Puzzles. It also shows a bullet hole in the wall, and 6 bullet shells on the floor. Your task is to find the cells of 6 bullet holes, and add their values together.
The bullet holes are all in the Villa image inside the box lid. You’ll find 5 of them fairly easily. They are in cells 16, 17, 20, 24 and 25. The 6th hole is the one you see on the card. When you realize it is hidden behind the table’s leg, but quite near the floor, you can deduce the hole is in cell 26, even if we cannot see it due to the camera’s location. When we add together those cell numbers, we reach the solution.
Solution: 128
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find an ‘ashtray’ in cell 30, and take Evidence Card 30.
Puzzle F
You followed the cypher and found an ‘ashtray’ in cell 30. Now take Evidence Card 30 and solve puzzle F.
Evidence Card 30 prompts you to look for a door. Cell 23 contains most of the opened door, so take Evidence Card 23. The black-and-white string leaves from a flower pot, and shows the number 3. You find the 3 extra cards by locating three plants in pots in cells 16, 20 and 29. Now you can solve puzzle F.
The original card tells you you are looking for three numbers in different colours. Further, each number should be built up using two cards. As the sign says, start with the red number. Lay cards with red flowers next to each other until you see that one combination creates a perfect number 3. Leave those cards as they are, and start creating a yellow number next. Lay cards next to the cards with the red 3 until you see a yellow number 5. Finally take the remaining card and create a purple number 9 (the small numbers below the number show it’s a 9, not a 6).
The solution is thus: 359
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘razor’ in cell 11, and take Evidence Card 11.
Puzzle G
You followed the cypher and found a ‘razor’ in cell 11. Now take Evidence Card 11.
Evidence Card 11 guides you to search for a ‘print’ in the Crime Scene image (possibly from a fax machine). It is in cell 3, so take Evidence Card 3 and solve Puzzle G.
Here you will see that the four question marks you are supposed to find are of different sizes. You may also realize that the same goes for the letters CIAO on the boy’s shirt. Further you may realize that the word CIAO is written in the same font as is used in the hand written information on the form above the picture. If you count the letters C, then the letters I, the letters A and the letters O, you get 2 + 3 + 3 + 5. These numbers correlate with the sizes of the question marks and letters. Add them together to get the solution.
Solution: 13.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘rose’ in cell 27, and take Evidence Card 27.
Puzzle H
You followed the cypher and found a ‘rose’ in cell 27. Now take Evidence Card 27.
Evidence Card 12 guides you to search for a ‘poster’ in the Crime Scene images. You find posters in cell 10, so take Evidence Card 10 and solve Puzzle H.
Card 10 shows a Barbershop poster. You will recognize the razor on it, as well as the asterisk. You have seen these same symbols on card 5 in Puzzle B. When you look at card 5 again, you realize the names on it can also be found on the client list of card 10. Start with Mario (the first name on card 5), and find that Mario is the 5th person mentioned on the poster. Take Luigi next, he is the 8th person on the poster. And Guido, lastly, is the 2nd person on it.
Solution: 582.
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘flag’ in cell 9 (hanging from a window on the other side of the alley), and take Evidence Card 9.
Puzzle I
You followed the cypher and found a ‘flag’ in cell 9. Now take Evidence Card 9.
Evidence Card 9 guides you to search for a ‘camera’ in the Crime Scene images. It can be found in cell 2, so take Evidence Card 2 and solve Puzzle I.
There’s a black-and-white string coming from the bunch of photographs on card 2, and the number 2 next to the string. The two required cards can be found using the photos on the crime scene images. They can be found in cells 8 and 25, so take Evidence Cards 8 and 25. Now you can solve Puzzle I.
All cards show a date, but the third card is also missing a date. Your task is clearly to figure out the missing date. Let’s find out the length of time that has passed between the first and the second, and the second and third date. The dates are 22.8.1975, 27.12.1978. and 1.5.1982. The difference between each pair of dates is 3 years, 4 months and 5 days. The arrow in front of the missing date indicates we are talking about a future date. If we add 3 years, 4 months and 5 days to the third date, we will end up with: 6.9.1985.
Solution: 6.9.1985
Follow the cypher to the storybook. Next, find a ‘bird’ in cell 17, and reveal the last card.
Endgame
You found the ‘bird’ in cell 17, and took Evidence Card 17. The card instructs you to read Part 3 of the story. It’s time to make your final choice.
If you have all of your Reputation Cards, they spell out “ATTACK INSTANTLY.” When you consider the options, the only one that goes together with the attacking, is c) Grab your gun. Take Evidence Card 28 and see how the story ends.
